In his daughter Catharine's birth certificate of 1862 Thomas Vallely was recorded as an iron miner. It was he who notified the Registrar of her birth and signed her birth certificate.

When Charles Vallaly was born on 3 August 1863 it was his father Thomas Vallaly, an iron miner, who notified his birth.
