   Cause of his death was rheumatism and valvular disease of the heart over 1 month.

  General Notes:

In 1881 census Joseph was only 4 years of age.

In 1891 Joseph was living with family in the Cleland area aged 13 years, and employed as coalminer.

In 1901 the census recorded Joseph Valelly, a single man, living with a group of his brothers and sisters at Windyedge near Cleland in Shotts Parish. Thomas was recorded as 22 years of age and worked as a coal miner. He had been born in Shotts.

Joseph died in 1919. His death certificate recorded that he was aged 42 years, married to Annie McCue and worked as an insurance agent. Both of his parents were deceased.

Joseph's son, Fr Charles Vallely died in 1973. In his death certificate Joseph was recorded as an 'insurance agent deceased'. 2 3 4

John Lithgow MD MS certified the cause of death.

James Vallely, brother of the deceased, of Scarhill, Cleland, gave notice of his death before James D. Wingate, registrar, at Cleland on May 30 1919.


Joseph married Annie McCUE in 1908 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Annie McCUE was born about 1880 and died in 1934 in Cathcart, Lanarkshire, Scotland 5.)
