CORRIGAN, Sarah (DNA Linked) ^{1 2}

   Cause of her death was heart disease of one month's duration.

   Other names for Sarah were COLLIGAN, Sarah,⁴ COREGAN, Sarah, CORIGAN, Sara,⁵ CORRIGAN, Sara ⁶ and VALLELY, Sarah.¹

  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Bothwell parish recorded Sarah Vallily, a widow, aged 60 years, living at Whitegree, Holytown, with nine others:
Dennis Vallily, son, 33; Charles Vallily, son, 26; Thomas Vallily, son, 22; Thomas Vallily, grandson, 8; George Obrian, son in law, 23; Bridget Obrian, daughter, 26; John Mckee, nephew, 33; Daniel Mckee, nephew, 26; Hugh Lennon, lodger, 26. All were born in Ireland except George who was recorded as born in Glasgow. The men were coal miners. The child Thomas may be a son of John Vallely and Ellen or Eleanor O' Hanlon, born in Ballymore County Armagh in 1843.

When Sarah died in 1860 she was recorded in her death certificate as the 'widow of a collier'. She was recorded as aged 64 years then, according to that document.

When Charles Vallely, younger, died in 1880 at Wishaw, his mother was recorded as "Sarah Vallely MS Colligan (Deceased)" by the Inspector of Poor, at Wishaw, who was the informant. ^{3 4 7 8 9}

DALBETH

In the eastern ranges of Glasgow, beyond Bridgeton and Parkhead, near Auchenshuggle, there is a walled Roman Catholic cemetery known as Old Dalbeth. This dates from the first half of the 19th century.

Separate from this, but adjacent, there is also, dating from about 1863, St Peter's Cemetery at Dalbeth.

In Old Dalbeth, burials were made in common ground and in lairs, both being noted in the same register. The cost of burial was noted if the burial took place in common ground.

George O' Brien, Sarah Corrigan or Vallely's son in law, gave notice of her death to William Landless, registrar, at Airdrie on 17 January 1860.

James Trainor certified that she was buried in St Joseph's cemetery.

Sarah married Charles VALLELY in Glebe, DNA Linked, son of 'Dungannon: address Glebe' VALLELY and Unknown. (Charles VALLELY in Glebe, DNA Linked was born about 1790 in Ireland and died before 14 January 1860 ^{3 10}.)
