In the Church Baptism Record (see above) transcribed and made available by the Irish Family History Foundation it was recorded that Charles Vallely was baptized in Dungannon RC parish, County Tyrone, on 13 January 1822. His parents were Charles Vallely and Sarah Coregan. The address for the child or family was Glebe. The sponsors were 'Francis' and 'Elizabeth Valely', it being unclear whether these latter two were a couple. No other information was provided.
The 1851 census for Bothwell parish recorded Sarah Vallily, a widow, aged 60 years, living at Whitegree, Holytown, with nine others: Dennis Vallily, son, 33; Charles Vallily, son, 26; Thomas Vallily, son, 22; Thomas Vallily, grandson, 8; George Obrian, son in law, 23; Bridget Obrian, daughter, 26; John Mckee, nephew, 33; Daniel Mckee, nephew, 26; Hugh Lennon, lodger, 26. All were born in Ireland except George who was recorded as born in Glasgow. The men were coal miners.
In 1861 the census for New Monkland recorded Charles Valleley and his wife Elisabeth living on the south side of Stirling Street, at 101 Stirling Street, Airdrie. Charles had been born in Ireland, and his age was noted as 33 years. He was a spirit dealer.
Elizabeth, wife of Charles, died in 1871. In her death certificate Charles was recorded as being a 'coal miner'. A relative, referred to as Elizabeth's 'nephew in law', and named as Thomas Vallely, was the informant of her death.
Charles was recorded as a 'coalminer, pauper' when he died in 1880 aged 57 years, which probably meant he had worked as a coal miner but no longer did so for whatever reason, and had no other visible means of support. He was also described as 'widower of Elizabeth -----'. His parents were both deceased. 2 3 4

Note: It was the practice for marriages to take place in the home parish of the bride, suggesting here that Elizabeth Nugent was from Loughgall. 1
