  General Notes:

Elizabeth Vallaley's birth in 1875 was notified by her mother Cathaine Vallily [sic] who signed her name before Alex. Paterson, registrar, at Shotts on October 15 1875.

Elizabeth Vallely was aged 5 years in the 1881 census.

In 1891 Elizabeth Vallely was living in Cleland aged 15 years, and unemployed outside the home.

In 1895 Lizzie Valleley was a witness at the marriage of her sister Mary to Hugh McLinden in Cleland.

In 1901 the census recorded Elizabeth Valelly, a single woman, living with a group of her brothers and sisters at Windyedge near Cleland in Shotts Parish. Elizabeth was recorded as 25 years of age and was the housekeeper. She had been born in Shotts parish.

An Elizabeth Vallely was recorded on 17 July 1926 arriving from Canada at the Border Crossing at Detroit Michigan USA. She was recorded as aged 43 years and born in Coatbridge Scotland. Her nationality was 'Scotch'.

Elizabeth Quinn died in 1964 at the recorded age of 88 years. She was recorded in her death certificate as the widow of Francis Quinn, general labourer. Her parents were deceased. 3 4 5 6

J. C. S. Martin MB ChB certified the cause of death.

T. F. Quinn, Elizabeth's son, of 164 Clydesdale Street, Mossend, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar, W. Cunningham, at Motherwell on 10 January 1964.


Elisabeth married Francis QUINN, son of John QUINN and Theresa KANE, on 23 June 1909 in RC Chapel, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Francis QUINN was born in 1880 1 and died before 10 January 1964.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Peter Murray. The witnesses were Bernard Hirisk and Mary McConnachie.

Francis Quinn was a single man aged 28 years living at 28 Omoa Square Cleland. He worked as a coal miner. His father was deceased.

Elizabeth Vallely was 29 years of age and single. She lived at Ashfield Place Cleland. Both of her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered on June 26 1909 at Cleland, the signing registrar being William McGill. 1
