Cause of her death was valvular heart disease and apoplexy of 15 minutes.

On 1 September 1833 an Isabel Quigly was confirmed by Reverend Dr Andrew Scott in Paisley. This was before Peter Quigley, her younger brother. Another brother, Bernard, who was born between Annabella and Peter was not mentioned in the confirmation list.
In 1834 one of the sponsors at the baptism of William Quigly, son of Thomas Quigly and Martha Dougherty, was 'Annabella Quigly'.
The 1841 census for Barony parish recorded "Annabella Twigley" living with her mother and brothers at 114 Main Street, Anderston in Glasgow. She was aged 20 years, that is in the 20-24 years age range, and was recorded as born in Lanarkshire. She worked as a winder in a cotton factory.
On 5 February 1843 Patrick [sic] and Isabella McKillop were sponsors at the baptism of Jane Harkin, lawful daughter of John Harkin and Jane McKillop.
On 26 February 1843 Patrick McKillop [sic] and Isabella Quigley were witnesses at the marriage of Arthur McCormick and Mary Black at St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie. The celebrant priest was Fr Alex Smith. The couple being married were noted as being resident in Rawyards Airdrie.
On 21 November 1843 Peter McKillip and Isabella Quigly were sponsors at the baptism of Mary, lawful daughter of Charles Kelly and Catherine Bocanan at St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie. Fr William Walsh baptised the child who had been born on 3 August 1843.
On 14 June 1844 Isabella McKillop was sponsor at the baptism of Isabella, lawful daughter of Peter Kane and (name very unclear) Mary Cunnion or Timmons. Fr Alex Smith baptised the child, born 17 May 1844, at St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie.
In the 1851 census, Isabella McKillop was included in the entry for her mother's household at Chapelyhill in the village of Hurlford, in the parish of Riccarton. Her three children, Catherine, Duncan and John were also listed. She was a "Coal Miners Wife", aged 31 years and had been born in Paisley.
Peter and Isabell McKellop [sic] and family were recorded at 36 Bell Street Airdrie in the 1861 census. They had six children: Catherine 16 years, Duncan 14 years, John 13 years, Peter 9 years, Margaret 7 years and Arthur 1 year. isabella was recorded as 59 years old and had been born in Busby, Renfrewshire.
In 1871, Peter and Isabella McKillop were living with their five children: Duncan, aged 24 years, John, 22 years, Peter, 18 years, Margaret, 16 years, and Arthur, 12 years, at 51 Bell Street, Airdrie. Catherine Quigley, aged 71 years, Peter's mother-in-law, also lived there. All were born in Airdrie, except Catherine and Isabella who were recorded as having been born in Paisley. Catherine's occupation was noted as "formerly a laundress". Isabella was aged 52 years and not employed.
Catherine Quigley's daughter Isabella McKillop, who had been present where the death occurred, gave notice of her mother's death and made her X mark on 18 January 1873 before the registrar at Airdrie.
In 1881 the census recorded Isabella living with her 76 year old aunt, Margaret Hammond, and her own daughter Margaret at 9 Wellgate Street, Dalserf. Isabella was a widow whose age was given as 56 years, about seven years younger than she actually was. It was noted that she was formerly a cotton winder and had been born in Paisley.
In 1883 her aunt, Margaret Hammond, died in Paisley aged 80 years. Isabella was the one who notified the registrar and made her X mark in the ledger. Her address then was given as 3 Wellgate, Larkhall.
APPLICATION FOR POOR RELIEF
An application for poor relief was made at 1.30 pm on 15 November 1886 by Isabella Quigley or McKillop, a Roman Catholic, resident at Fletcher Land, Knowetop (Motherwell). She was recorded as having been born in Abbey parish Paisley. The inspector visited at 3.30 pm on 15 November 1886. The woman was recorded as a widow aged 67 years who had no weekly earnings. She was partially disabled on account of Paralysis. She had no dependants. The inspector recorded that the applicant was the widow of Peter McKillop born in New Monkland, a labourer, who had died 11 years earlier. Their children were listed as:

Peter aged 34 years, married, a Boiler maker, in Airdrie, 4 children

(a slight error or some confusion seems to occur here as two daughters given same name; daughter Margaret, born 1855, had been a school teacher and became a nun in Newcastle Upon Tyne)

When she died in 1890 she was a widow. The death certificate at first said she was 62 years, but later the Register of Corrected Entries recorded her age as 68 years. Her son Arthur who was the informant seems to have been hazy about the facts of his mother's life. He did not give a maiden surname for her mother, and got mixed up with his two grandfathers, making John into Duncan. Research Notes:
ANNABELLA / ISABELLA - BIRTH DATE
No birth date was given in the Roman Catholic baptismal records and it may possibly be that Annabella was conceived before the marriage and arrived in noticeably less than nine months after the ceremony. Interestingly the proclamation date of the marriage banns are available, but no wedding date has been located in Paisley or other possible venues.
HER DEATH
Isabella McKillop died in 1890 at 13 Furnace Row, Newmains, Lanarkshire, the home of Charles Biggar. Her last known address was 3 Wellgate in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, in 1883 when her aunt died.
BUSBY
Busby is at present a southern residential suburb of Glasgow, which lies on the White Cart River 6 miles south of Glasgow City Centre. It once straddled the border between the old counties of Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire and had a paper mill, chemical works, cotton mills and bleachfields.
Isabella was noted on one occasion to have been born in Busby. Busby was, and is, situated at the busy junction where the East Kilbride, Eaglesham and Glasgow roads met and meet. Busby Lower Mill was built in 1790 by James Doxon. It was only the second cotton mill to be built in Scotland. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1868 but industrial units now form a business site. Busby mills provided the main source of employment for the village. As early as 1799, 360 people worked there. It was a six day working week and conditions in the humid, cotton-laden atmosphere were very unhealthy, often causing lung disease later in life. Medical Notes:
Isabella's sudden death was certified by J. Millar FRCS (Edin). A report was made to the Procurator Fiscal's office because it was so sudden. This report found she died of natural causes, of a long standing valvular heart disease that brought on a third apoplectic seizure. She died in the house of Charles Biggar.
Her son Arthur McKillop of 28 Quarry Row, Knowetop, Motherwell, informed the registrar at Wishaw, Thomas Steele, on 21 May 1890.

Annabella married Patrick McKELLOP, son of Duncan McKILLOP and Jean MOFFAT, on 8 January 1844 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Patrick McKELLOP was born in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 26, baptised on 16 June 1816 in New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 27 and died 12 July 1875 at 9.30 am in Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, Scotland 28.). The cause of his death was compound fracture of the forearm for 45 days, emphysema of the lungs and pneumonia.
