  General Notes:

The census of 1861 recorded William White, along with his wife Margaret and their daughter Elizabeth, living at 11 Dairy Row in the Calderbank area Old Monkland parish. William was aged 21 years and was an ironstone miner.

William White, John White's son, who was present where his father died, gave notice of the death at Coatdyke on 5 September 1865.

In 1871 William White was a coal miner aged 30 years, living at 2 Piep O' Day in Old Monkland parish, with his wife Margaret and their six children.

In the 1874 birth certificate of his daughter Jessie, William White was recorded as an engine worker. He was the informant of the birth and had been present where the birth took place.

The census of 1881 for Old Monkland parish Eastern District recorded William White, his wife Margaret and their five children living at 61 Stone Row in Calderbank. William was a coal miner as was his son John.

The 1891 census recorded William and Margaret White and their five youngest children living at 111 Graham Street, Airdrie. William was a retired coal miner, Thomas was a fireman, and Agnes Jeanie and Jessie were cotton mill workers.

In 1891 when his daughter Charlotte married, William White was recorded as a coal miner.

The marriage certificate of his daughter Jessie in 1895 recorded William White as a coal miner, and deceased.

In her death certificate of 1906 Margaret Russell was recorded as "widow of William White coal miner".

When his daughter Charlotte died in 1947 William was recorded as "William White Coal Miner" in her death certificate. 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14


William married Margaret RUSSELL, daughter of John RUSSEL and Elizabeth ADAM, on 20 January 1860 in United Presbyterian Church, Eastern District of Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Margaret RUSSELL was born about 1839 in Calderbank, Old Monkland Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 6 7 9 12 15 16 and died on 9 June 1906 in 58 Mack Street, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 9.). The cause of her death was aortic disease.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the United Presbyterian Church. John Wilson, Minister at Bellshill, married the couple. The witnesses were John Love and John White, both miners.

William White was aged 20 years and lived at Calderbank, Old Monkland. He was a single man working as a miner.

Margaret Russell was also 20 years old, single and living in Calderbank. She worked as a "Mantrice maker".

The marriage was registered at Coatdyke, Lanarkshire, on 23 January 1860. 1
