Charlotte Whyte, maiden surname Hay, died in 1868. Her death certificate recorded her as "widow of John Whyte Iron-Miner". Her age was recorded as 66 years. Both of her parents were deceased.

When John White [sic] died in 1865 his death certificate recorded him as an "Iron-miner married to Charlotte Hay". ^{6 12}

Charlotte's son, James White, who was present where his mother died, gave notice of her death at Coatdyke on 1 December 1868. ¹²

Charlotte married John WHYTE (DNA Linked), son of Thomas WHITE and Janet WILLIAMSON, on 31 December 1833 in Muirkirk parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹ (John WHYTE (DNA Linked) was born about 1808 in Sanquhar parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland ^{9 11} and died on 5 September 1865 in Calderbank, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁶.). The cause of his death was valvular disease of the heart over 2 months.¹²
