In 1871 John White was a pit engine keeper living at 1 Entry - Head, in Old Monkland parish with his wife Margaret and their three young children. 5


John married Margaret CLARK, daughter of Thomas CLARK and Elizabeth WILSON, on 5 August 1864 in Entry near cottage, Old Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Margaret CLARK was born on 6 November 1845 in Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 and died on 20 October 1923 in Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. William Jackson, Minister of the Free West Church Airdrie, married the couple. The witnesses were Claud Morrison and Rebecca Mills.

John White was a 20 year old bachelor who was an Engine Worker. He lived in Calderbank, Old Monkland parish.

Margaret Clark lived at Entry Head, Peep O'Day. She was 19 years old, unmarried and worked as a domestic servant.

The marriage was registered at Coatdyke on 6 August 1864. 1
