  General Notes:

In 1901 the census for New Monkland parish Lanarkshire recorded Margt. White, aged 61 years, a widow, living at 105 Graham Street Airdrie with her son James, a grocer's assistant aged 19 years, and her 4 year old grandson Robert Russell. A boarder named Alexr Ritchie also lived there. Margaret's place of birth was noted as Bothwell parish.

In her death certificate of 1906 Margaret Russell was recorded as "widow of William White coal miner" and 66 years of age at death. Her parents were deceased. 4 12

Margaret Russell's son, Thomas White, of 46 Chapelside Place Airdrie, was the informant of her death at Airdrie on 9 June 1906. 4


Margaret married William WHYTE, son of John WHYTE (DNA Linked) and Charlotte HAY (DNA Linked), on 20 January 1860 in United Presbyterian Church, Eastern District of Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (William WHYTE was born about 1839 in Calderbank, Old Monkland Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 6 9 10 15 and died in 1894 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the United Presbyterian Church. John Wilson, Minister at Bellshill, married the couple. The witnesses were John Love and John White, both miners.

William White was aged 20 years and lived at Calderbank, Old Monkland. He was a single man working as a miner.

Margaret Russell was also 20 years old, single and living in Calderbank. She worked as a "Mantrice maker".

The marriage was registered at Coatdyke, Lanarkshire, on 23 January 1860. 1
