   Another name for Duncan was McKELLOP, Duncan.3

  General Notes:

In his son Patrick's baptism record of 1816, Duncan Mckellop was recorded as a miner in Airdrie.

Duncan and his wife Jane were recorded in the 1841 census living with four sons at Aitchison Street Airdrie. The eldest was Patrick. Duncan was 50-54 years and born in Ireland; all the rest were born in Lanarkshire. Duncan's occupation was iron miner.

In the 1851 census Duncan and Jean McKillop were recorded at 42 Bell St Airdrie. Duncan was 60 years. No occupation was given for Duncan or his wife.

Duncan's son Duncan married in 1861, after the death of his father. Duncan senior was recorded in the marriage certificate as a coal miner by occupation.

In the death certificate of his daughter Jane in 1873, Duncan was recorded as an 'iron and coal miner deceased'.

In 1875 when his son Peter died, Duncan was himself already dead. He was described in Peter's death certificate as having been a coal miner.

Duncan was already dead when his son Duncan died in 1899. In Duncan junior's death certificate, his father was recorded as having been a coal miner. 3 4 5 6 7


Duncan married Jean MOFFAT, daughter of Patrick MOFFAT and Anna MORTON, on 20 February 1813 in Eastwood Parish, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (Jean MOFFAT was born on 1 March 1795 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland,8 died on 23 August 1859 in 36 Bell Street, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 9 and was buried in New Monkland Churchyard, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was old age and disordered bowels of some years' duration.
