General Notes:
When Rose was born in Hamilton in 1869 it was her mother, Mary Feely, who gave notice of her birth before the registrar, William Moffat, at Hamilton on 19 August 1869 and made her X mark.
Rose was the youngest of her family to be recorded by the 1871 census for Hamilton where she had been born. She lived at 3 James Street, and was aged 2 years.
Rose was recorded in the 1881 census for Hamilton, living with her mother and seven other family members at 20 Church Street. She was aged 12 years and had been born in Hamilton. She was a scholar.
Rose Feely gave notice of her daughter, Margaret's birth before the registrar at Hamilton, William J. T. Rae, on 26 September 1890 and made her X mark. She gave her occupation as a powerloom winder.
Rose was recorded in the 1891 census for Hamilton. She was living with her mother and seven other family members at 21 Castle Street. She was unmarried, aged 22 years, and had been born in Hamilton. She was employed as a millworker.
Rose was probably called after her father's mother who was called Rose McGown.
Rose was survived by her husband, Matthew, a coal miner. She was recorded as 28 years of age when she died. Both of her parents were deceased, her mother just a few months before. Because the death was a sudden one, an investigation was made by the Procurator Fiscal's office, and a report of this placed in the Register of Corrected Entries. This report concluded that Rose McAleavy died in the home of Robert Logan, at 29 Church Street, Hamilton. She was a female of 28 years of age whose parents were deceased. She died of natural causes, probably heart disease, and suddenly, as found by Dr R. H. Watson of Hamilton who examined the body after death. There is also an entry in the Register of Corrected Entries concerning Rose's death. This document was issued by the Procurator Fiscal's Office after and as a result of a Precognition concerning the death of Rose Pheely or McAleavy. It confirmed basic biographical and circumstantial information already noted in the death certificate. In addition it stated that Rose died of "Natural Causes - probably Heart Disease, Suddenly." This was certified by Dr R.H.Watson, Hamilton, who examined the body after death. It mentioned too the place of interment of Rose's remains as Hamilton Cemetery. 3 4 5 11 12 13 14 15

Rose next married Matthew McALEAVY, son of John McALEAVY and Jane HUNT, on 31 December 1891 in RC Chapel, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Matthew McALEAVY was born in 1869 in England 16 and died between 1901 and 15 December 1922 17 18.)
Marriage Notes:
The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Father Peter Donnelly married the couple and the witnesses were James Kennedy and Ellen Feeley.
Matthew McAleavy was aged 22 years when he married Rose Feeley. He was unmarried and worked as a coal miner. His residence was recorded as 25 Leechlee Street, Hamilton.
Rose was 22 years and a single woman. Her address was noted as 28 Castle Street, Hamilton.
The marriage was registered on 5 January 1892 at Hamilton, William J. T. Rae being the registrar.
