Cause of his death was Asthemic bronchitis lasting 14 days. Other names for James were CARANS, James,8 CAVENAGH, James,9 CAVENAUGH, James,10 CAVENGH, James 6 and KAVANAGH, James. General Notes: James Cavengh [sic] was recorded in the 1841 census living with five other young men of his own age in Aitcheson Street in Airdrie in the parish of New Monkland, Lanarkshire. They were all recorded in the age range 20- 24 years. All bar one were born in Ireland. Some were iron miners and some were labourers. Their names were: John McGra, John Donaley, Patrick Fryl, Patt McGinnes, and John Thomson. Also living there were Alexander Thomson, his wife and child. James was an iron miner. His father Michael, was included in the same household, and on the next page were listed his mother and brothers and sisters. Medical Notes: The cause of death was certified by William Kidd, surgeon, who saw James from the 11th February 1859. James married Mary SMITH on 26 January 1842 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 (Mary SMITH was born about 1821 in County Derry, Ireland.) Marriage Notes: The Proclamation of Banns for marriage was recorded by the session clerk in the parish of New Monkland on 26 December 1841 for this couple and it is recorded that 3s 6d was paid. James next married Jane CROW, daughter of John CROW and Mary BOYLE, on 4 August 1853 in St Patrick's RC Church, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.3 4 (Jane CROW was born on 23 March 1828, baptised on 6 April 1828 in Dundonald Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland 10 and died 4 January 1904 at 7.00 pm in Pilot Acre, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland 13.). The cause of her death was chronic bronchitis over 12 months, apoplexy over 2 days, and cardiac failure of 1 day. Marriage Notes: In the Old Parish Register of Bothwell parish for 1853, both James and Jane were recorded as 'both of this parish'. |
