  General Notes:

Mary Ritchie Tweedley, according to her birth certificate, was born in Edinburgh on 22 August 1893, and her birth was registered in the St George district of Edinburgh by her mother, who signed herself Annie Tweedley, on 2 September 1893 before the registrar John Aitchison. The note by the registrar at Hamilton, William J. T. Rae, states that the certificate was subsequently transcribed at Hamilton on 19 September 1893. The domicile for John Tweedley, Annie's husband, is recorded on the certificate as 134 Low Waters Hamilton. Their marriage is noted as having taken place "1892 December 2nd Hamilton".

Annie Tweedley was recorded by the 1901 census, living at 29 Ardenlea Street in Glasgow, with her husband and four children, aged between 2 years and 24 years. The older daughter, Margaret, was probably the daughter of John's first marriage. A granddaughter, Margaret McArthur, also lived there at that time. She was, according to the census, the daughter of Margaret Tweedley. Annie was recorded as 30 years of age and had been born in Slateford near Edinburgh in Midlothian.

After her son, Samuel's birth in 1901, it was Annie who notified the registrar of the birth.

In the death certificate of her husband John Tweedley in 1920, Annie Hammill [sic] was recorded as his second wife.

In 1942, Annie herself died, a widow, since her husband had died in 1920. She was recorded in her death certificate as aged 72 years, the widow of coal hewer, John Tweedley. Both her parents were deceased by then. 3 12 13 14
