In 1832 John Feely was baptised in the Roman Catholic parish of Shankill in County Armagh. His sponsors were James Feely and Biddy Gallagher. The Townland noted for the family was 'Legacurry', probably Legahory, near Lurgan.
In 1855, John gave notice of his daughter, Rosa's birth at Hamilton. He made his X mark. In the 1855 birth certificate some additional items of information were given. John was an agricultural labourer aged 21 years. He had been born in County Armagh, Ireland. He stated that he and his wife were married in Hamilton in 1852.
In 1859 when his daughter Margaret died, John was recorded as a collier in her death certificate.
The death information quoted here came from a death certificate for a John Feely aged 40 years whose parental information was not included. It recorded him as a 'pauper formerly a labourer, married' but does not give information about his spouse. There is, therefore, a slight element of doubt, but the name, place, age and circumstances suggest that it is indeed this John Feely. 3 4 5 6 9
