In 1832 John Feely was baptised in the Roman Catholic parish of Shankill in County Armagh. His sponsors were James Feely and Biddy Gallagher. The Townland noted for the family was 'Legacurry', probably Legahory, near Lurgan.

In 1855, John gave notice of his daughter, Rosa's birth at Hamilton. He made his X mark. In the 1855 birth certificate some additional items of information were given. John was an agricultural labourer aged 21 years. He had been born in County Armagh, Ireland. He stated that he and his wife were married in Hamilton in 1852.

In 1859 when his daughter Margaret died, John was recorded as a collier in her death certificate.

The death information quoted here came from a death certificate for a John Feely aged 40 years whose parental information was not included. It recorded him as a 'pauper formerly a labourer, married' but does not give information about his spouse. There is, therefore, a slight element of doubt, but the name, place, age and circumstances suggest that it is indeed this John Feely. ^{3 4 5 6 9}

The stage coach route on the old Lurgan/Portadown road passed through the townland of Legahory, Drumgor, Moyraverty, Crossmachilly, Lisnamintry (Bluestone) Lylo, Bocombra, Killicomaine and Edenderry. The 'Crown Inn' Legahory, the Society of Friends Burial Ground at Lynastown and the 'Red Cow Inn' at Moyraverty are features still noted regarding this road.
On 23 April 1977, a Catholic man, Patrick Devlin, a civilian, was killed by the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF). He was a security man and was shot at the entrance to the Legahory Inn, Craigavon, County Armagh.

George Edwards, Governor of Hamilton Poorhouse, gave notice of the death of John Feely to William Moffat, registrar, at Hamilton on 24 September 1874.

John married Helen CAMPBELL on 27 May 1853 in St Mary's RC Parish, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.^{1 2} (Helen CAMPBELL was born about 1835 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁴ and died after 19 September 1874.)
