COLTFIELD

A hamlet in the parish of Alves, Moray, associated by some secondary sources with Archilbald Falconer, ancestor of the Falconers of Phesdo.


Archibald married Jeane DUNBAR, daughter of Reverend Mr George DUNBAR of Avoch, Minister of Knockbain parish and Janet THOMSON.1 (Jeane DUNBAR was born about 1580.)


  Marriage Notes:

"In 1610 she and her husband were involved in a court case involving debts not paid by Dunbar of Hemprigis and others:

':Complaint by Archibald Falcouner in Easter Alves, and Jeane Dumbar, his spouse, that William Dumbar of Hemprigis, as principal, and Patrick Dunbar of Conzie and Alexander Dumbar if Kilboyaik, remain unrelaxed from a horning of 22nd August last for not redeeming from the complainers the lands of Struteris by paying them [L]1000 of expenses conform to the contract between them. - Persuers appearing by Archibald Douglas, decree as above against the defenders.' [3 Register of the Privy Council [James VI], Series 1, Volume 9]"
