"6 May 1549 Charter by Patrick, Bishop of Moray and Commendator of Scone, with consent of his chapter, to William Makintosche [McIntosh] of Dunnachtane [Dunachton], Captain of the Clanquhatan [Clan Chattan], and Margaret Ogilvy [Ogilvie], his spouse, in liferent, and the lawful heirs-male of the said William and his assignees, of the lands of Moymore [Moy-mor], Moybeg [Moy-beg], Altnaslanacht [Altnaslanach], Tullochtclowre [Tullochclury], Sleauch [Sleach], Tullochtmakearre [Dalmagerry], with the mill and kiln thereof, Rowan [?Rowan ?Ruthven] and Innerin [Invereen], and their pertinents, in the Barony of Moymoir and Arclauch [Ardclach] and regality of Spynie, which lands, etc., the said William has resigned for this regrant thereof to himself and his said spouse; to be held in feu-farm and heritage of the granter and his successors, the Bishops of Moray, for the yearly payment of L.18, 6s. 4d., as the old feu-duty (including conver- sions) and 22s. 2 1/2d. of grassum, with the augmentation of 26s. 8d., and also rendering certain services"

"William Mackintosh's wife was Margaret Ogilvie, daughter of Alexander, 1st baron of Findlater, and sister to James Ogilvie of Cardell, who had married William's mother. By this lady he had, with a daughter Margaret (married successively to the Lairds of Grant, Abergeldie, Pitsligo, and Duffus), two sons - William, who died young, and Lachlan, who became chief."
