MORRISON'S HAVEN PRESTONPANS
" 'Morrison's Haven' is named after the Morrison family who owned Preston Grange. The railway that ran directly to the harbour carried vast quantities of coal in carts from the nearby works and collieries of the Prestongrange Coal and Firebrick Company.
The harbour was originally formed in 1526 by the monks at Newbattle for the exporting of coal. The harbour became famous in the nineteenth century for oyster fishing. Although white fishing and herring were also fished from this harbour, the main export remained coal."
