Thomas Lauder, burgess of the burgh of Lauder, acted as baillie for an Instrument of sasine concerning an annualrent out of Whitslaid and Brighaithe [Braidhaughe] which had been granted to Richard Lauder, burgess of Lauder, by William Lauder of Whitslaid and Marion Hamilton his wife, dated 2nd June 1618.[²National Records of Scotland, Berwickshire Sasines, 18/1, fol.47.]

There is further mention of Marion Hamilton 'spouse of William Lauder of Whitslaid' in a Sasine dated 4th July 1618."
