Isobel married Gilbert LAUDER of Balbardie, Bailie and Burgess of Edinburgh, son of Sir George LAUDER of Haltoun and Catherine SOMERVILLE, by 26 April 1535(charter).¹ (Gilbert LAUDER of Balbardie, Bailie and Burgess of Edinburgh was born about 1485 and died before 19 May 1550 ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

"A charter dated 26th April 1535 was made to Gilbert Lauder, burgess of Edinburgh and Isobel Mauchane, his second spouse, in conjunct feu, of 12 bovates (180 acres) of land at Ratho (names of current tenants given) in the territory of Ratho, barony (or regality) of Renfrew by annexation; a Lauder of Haltoun property.[⁸The Great Seal of Scotland, confirmed 2nd March 1535 at the Monastery of Calco.]

Gilbert Lauder of Balbardy, Robert Lauder of Burngrange [at Lauder], Andrew White & Kentigern Wood, clerics, John Gray, and Alexander Young, Notary Public, are witnesses to a charter written 24th November 1531 at Edinburgh, of William Stewartoun of that Ilk, to William Lawder of Haltoun, his heirs and assignees, of the lands of Stewartoun in Peebleshire.[⁹The Great Seal of Scotland, confirmed on 4th December 1531][¹⁰The Exchequer Rolls of Scotland edited by George Powell McNeill, M.A.,LL.B., Edinburgh 1895,volume xv, 1523-1529, p.590.]

He died before 19th May 1550 when his second wife was described as his relict."

"On 19th May 1550, at Rosyth, Henry Stewart signed a charter to Isobel Mauchane, relict of Gilbert Lauder, Burgess of Edinburgh, her heirs and assignees. A charter of Alexander Mauchane dated 19th August, 1557 mentions Isabella Mauchane, relict of Gilbert Lauder, Burgess of Edinburgh."
