He was tutor to his young nephew, the 2nd Baronet, who succeeded his father in 1648. Robert married Margaret, daughter of Alexander Lindsay of Meanie and Williamston, and had a son William, who succeeded, and a daughter Margaret, who married Thomas Fraser of Cairnbulg, son of Lord Fraser."
