FRASER, Thomas 6th of Durris 1User ID: D257. Thomas married Margaret GORDON, daughter of Sir James GORDON 3rd of Abergeldie and Midmar and Janet LEITH co-heiress of Barnes.1 (Margaret GORDON was born about 1540.) Marriage Notes: "Helen, 'daughter of James Gordon of Midmar and Abergeldie,' apparently the 3rd laird, married Thomas Fraser of Durris (Macfarlane's Genealogical Collections, ii., 323) and became the grandmother of Sir Alexander Fraser, the famous physician who trepanned Prince Rupert, and whose daughter, Carey Fraser, married (about 1678) the third Earl of Peterborough. Sir Alexander's son Charles translated Plutarch (Dict. Nat. Biog.)." Thomas next married Isobel FRASER, daughter of Michael FRASER of Stoneywood and Isobel FORBES.2 (Isobel FRASER was born about 1575.) Marriage Notes: "He (James Arbuthnott) was living in 1636, and was then the husband of 'Marie Fraser,' daughter of Thomas Fraser of Durris, by his wife, Isobel Fraser, daughter of Michael Fraser of Stoneywood, and sister of Andrew, first Lord Fraser." |
