Jean married John DOUGLAS of Barras, son of Sir William DOUGLAS 9th Earl of Angus and Giles GRAHAM.¹ (John DOUGLAS of Barras was born about 1565 and died on 15 March 1618 in Barras, Kinneff parish, Kincardineshire, Scotland ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Mr. John (Douglas), mentioned in 1599 as of Corsbatt. He was also of Wester Barras, and was heir of his brother Francis in the lands of Wardropertoun and Pitskellie in the parish of Glenbervie. He was also in 1599 heir of his brother Henry in the lands of Tannachy. He died at Barras, parish of Kinneff, on 15 March 1618. He married Jean Fraser and had issue."

Jean next married Alexander LINDSAY of Menie and Williamston.² (Alexander LINDSAY of Menie and Williamston was born about 1578 and died in July 1663 ².). The cause of his death was stabbed by James Gordon of Newton.

  Marriage Notes:

"It appears that, after the death of her first husband, Mrs. Douglas became the wife of the Alexander Lindsay whom we have encountered as obtaining, in transference from William Ogilvy, the wadset of Lumgair ; and who, at the time of their marriage, also held in wadset the lands of Easter Barras or Bridgeford. The documents in question mark the downward progress of events in the family fortunes of the Lindsays, who, compelled to surrender their possessions in the Mearns, migrated to Aberdeenshire, where they acquired, from John Gordon of Nethermure, the town and lands of Cuikbirnes, in the Parish of Logie Buchan." (pages 72 and 73)

"Renunciation by Jeane Fraser relict of M^r Johne Douglas of Wasterbarras, now spous of Alexr Lindsay of Brigefurd, in favour of Johne Douglas of Barras her eldest son whereby she compeared outwith the presence of her husband and renounced and discharged her conjunct fee terce liferent right in and to the lands of Netherendtoune of Barras, Midtoune, Overendtoun Barclayhill, toune and lands of Barras, and Fearniebray, halfmill and mill lands, multures etc. to and in favour of said Johne and that for performance of part of a contract betuixt said John and the said Alex^r Lindsay - which Contract the said Jeane Fraser ratified and approved Dated at Brigefurd 21st November 1637."
