John married Janet TURING, daughter of Robert TURING 9th of Foveran and Helen CARNEGIE 'Lady Benum and Lady Foveran'.¹ (Janet TURING was born about 1565.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John (Johnston) had, during the lifetime of his father, a charter of confirmation under the Great Seal, 'Joanni Johnstoun apparenti de eodem terrarum de Johnstoun in comitatu de Marr et Garrioch, et vicecomitatu de Aberdene,' dated 23d August 1587.

He married, first, Janet, daughter of Turing of Foveran, an ancient and respectable family in the shire of Aberdeen, by whom he had two sons and two daughters : 1st. George, his successor. 2d. 'John, of whom there is no succession.'

His daughters were: 1st. Elizabeth, married to Bannerman of Elsick. 2d. Jean, married to William Forbes of Knapernay, (descended of the family of Tolquhoun,) by whom she had a family.....

Dying about the year 1614, he was succeeded by his elder son by his first wife, Janet Turing, George Johnston of that Ilk."

John next married Katherine LUNDIE, daughter of Sir William LUNDY of that Ilk and Christian RUTHVEN.^{1 2} (Katherine LUNDIE was born about 1571 and died in 1616 ².)
