Katherine married John JOHNSTON of that Ilk, son of George JOHNSTON of that Ilk and Christian FORBES.^{1 2} (John JOHNSTON of that Ilk was born about 1561 and died before 3 May 1614 ².)

"He (John Johnston of that Ilk) married, secondly, Katharine, daughter of William Lundie of that Ilk, in the shire of Fife ; and it is by this alliance that all the existing branches of the family of Johnston of that Ilk trace their descent from the ancient kings of Scotland. John had by his second wife two sons and two daughters :

1st Son : Thomas of Craig, of whom are descended the Johnstons now of that Ilk and of Hilton, the Johnstons in Boginjoss, &c, as will be shown hereafter.

2d. Gilbert, of whom we have obtained no account.

The daughters were:

1st. Margaret, married to Parson Cheyne.

2d. Christian, married to John Forbes of Pitnacadell, in the shire of Aberdeen, a cadet of the family of Forbes of Tolquhoun, and had issue

from Family of Johnston ²
