Richard was just 3 months old when recorded by the 1841 census living with his family in High Street St John's Haddington. He had been born in East Lothian.

The 1851 census for Haddington, East Lothian, recorded Richard Haimes living at the home of his parents in the High Street. He was recorded as 9 years of age and born in Haddington. He was a scholar.

In 1861 the census for Haddington recorded Richard Haimes living in his parents' home. He was 19 years of age and his birthplace as Haddington. He worked as a mason.

In 1871 Richard Haimes was living as a boarder with John and Ann Smith in Moore Village, Daresbury, in Chesire, England. He was a single man of 27 Years old, and was a mason by trade. His birthplace was noted simply as "Scotland".

The 1881 census for Newington, Edinburgh, recorded Richard and his wife, Elizabeth, both of the same age of 40 years, living with their two children, Mary and Rebecca, aged 5 and 3 years respectively. Richard's birthplace was noted as Haddington, Elizabeth's as "Limpstone, England", and their daughters' as London. Richard was a mason by trade.

Richard Haimes was a mason according to the death certificate in 1905 of his daughter Rebecca, and that of his daughter Mary Elizabeth in 1944. 3 4 5


Richard married Elizabeth ROGERS, daughter of John ROGERS and Elizabeth ROGERS MS UNKNOWN, on 16 June 1872 in Parish Chapel, St Pancras, Camden, London, England.1 2 (Elizabeth ROGERS was born about 1843 in Lympston, Devon, England 6 and died 18 October 1913 at 9.00 pm in District Asylum, Haddington, East Lothian.). The cause of her death was pulmonary oedema over 10 days.
