The 1901 census for Chapelhall, where John was born, recorded him living with his family in Boness Road there. He was aged 6 years and a scholar.

"John O'Rourke Coal Miner, Hewer, married to Ellen McCabe" died in 1955 at the recorded age of 59 years. Both of his parents were deceased. Francis, son of the deceased who was present where his father died gave notice of his father's death before the registrar at Holytown on 31 January 1955.

John O'Rourke, coal miner. was the informant of the birth of his son Francis in 1921. Similarly he was also the informant of his daughter Sarah's death in 1929, and recorded in the same occupation. ^{1 2 3 4}
