   Other names for Rebecca were GEBBIE, Rebecca,3 GEBBIE, Rebecca Tweedly and JOHNSTONE, Rebecca Tweedley.2

  General Notes:

Rebecca's father, James Gebbie, informed the registrar at Hamilton, Gavin Frame, on 10 November 1904 of his daughter's birth.

Rebecca Gebbie was recorded as 6 years old in the 1911 census for Hamilton.

In 1924 Rebecca Tweedley Gebbie was a witness at the marriage of her sister, Isabella, in the Barony Church in Glasgow. Her address was noted as Cadzow, Hamilton.

Rebecca Tweedley Johnston died in 1976 in Edinburgh. Her death certificate recorded her as widowed, and born on 31 October 1904. Her recorded age at death was, therefore, 71 years. Her parents were both deceased. 1 2 3

James S. G. Johnston, Rebecca's son, of 1/3 Magdalene Drive Edinburgh, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar, David Robertson, at Edinburgh on 2 February 1976. 2


Rebecca married Henry Brown JOHNSTON, son of James Sinclair JOHNSTON and Jane Reid CLARK, on 27 March 1929 in Napier, New Zealand. (Henry Brown JOHNSTON was born in 1901 and died 24 August 1958 at 7.05 am in 27 Loaning Crescent, Edinburgh, Scotland 2.). The cause of his death was carcinoma of the stomach with multiple metastases.2
