   Cause of her death was broncho pneumonia, immobility, and cerebro vascular accident.

   Other names for Elizabeth were GEBBIE, Lizzie 3 and GRAY, Elizabeth Cowan.2

  General Notes:

Elizabeth's father, James Gebbie, registered her birth before William T. Rae, registrar, at Hamilton on 15 November 1891. Elizabeth was named for her paternal grandmother.

Lizzie Gebbie was recorded by the 1901 census aged 9 years. She was a scholar and had been born in Hamilton.

When Elizabeth Cowan Gray died in 1985, her death certificate recorded her as a widow, born 3 November 1891, and aged 93 years at death. Her usual residence was noted as 14 Sycamore Way, Milton of Campsie. Both of her parents were deceased. 2 3

  Medical Notes:

R. J. F Foulis was the medical practitioner who certified the cause of death.

M. M. Gray, Elizabeth's daughter, of 14 Sycamore Way, Milton of Campsie, gave notice of her mother's death before H. MacLean, registrar, at Lennoxtown on 1 November 1985.


Elizabeth married William McCubbin GRAY, son of George Beaumont GRAY and Marion McKAY, on 23 July 1918 in Barony Parish Church, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (William McCubbin GRAY was born in 1891 1 and died before 31 October 1985 1 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. H. Shannon Brieby, minister of The Barony, Glasgow, married the couple. The witnesses were James F. Gray and Isabella Cowan.

William McCubbin Gray was a bachelor, aged 26 years. He was a second lieutenant in the 4th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, and was noted as 'presently with the British Expeditionary Forces'.

Elizabeth Cowan Gebbie was a spinster, also aged 26 years. Her address was 45 Parson Street, Glasgow. She worked as a dairykeeper. 1
