In 1924 William McCubbin Gray was a witness at the marriage of his sister in law Isabella in the Barony Church in Glasgow. His address was noted as 45 Ardgowan Street Glasgow.

William McCubbin Gray died before his wife. When she died in 1985 her husband was recorded as 2nd Lieutenant Royal Scots Fusiliers. 2 3

William married Elizabeth Cowan GEBBIE, daughter of James GEBBIE and Margaret QUIGLEY, on 23 July 1918 in Barony Parish Church, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Elizabeth Cowan GEBBIE was born 3 November 1891 at 9.00 pm in 13 School Street, Low Waters, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland and died 31 October 1985 at 21.10 hrs in Birdston Hospital, Milton of Campsie, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland 1 2.). The cause of her death was broncho pneumonia, immobility, and cerebro vascular accident.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. H. Shannon Brieby, minister of The Barony, Glasgow, married the couple. The witnesses were James F. Gray and Isabella Cowan.

William McCubbin Gray was a bachelor, aged 26 years. He was a second lieutenant in the 4th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, and was noted as 'presently with the British Expeditionary Forces'.

Elizabeth Cowan Gebbie was a spinster, also aged 26 years. Her address was 45 Parson Street, Glasgow. She worked as a dairykeeper. 1
