A woman called "Cath Feely" was a sponsor at the baptism of Ann Sherry MS Feely's son's baptism on 18 January 1863 in St Mary's RC Parish Hamilton, Lanarkshire.
In Catherine's first marriage in 1864 to Edward Gallaugher, her parents were recorded as 'James Feeley farm labourer deceased' and 'Rose Feeley MS Morgan'. her father, then was dead and her mother still alive. This balance accords with her belonging to the family of Robert and Rosa (McGowan) Feely. Robert died between 1847 and 1855, very possibly not known to Catherine who would have been very small. Her mother Rosa died in 1871. It is possible Robert had more than one Christian name or a nickname by which he was known. Or Catherine may simply not have known his Christian name. Rosa's maiden surname, too, was rendered in various forms in various certificaes. We know that Catherine made her X mark, so her literacy skills were poor or non-existent. Couple that with a possible Irish brogue and it is easy to understand such discrepancies.
In her second marriage certificate Catherine's parents were called 'James Feely and Rosie Feely', but it is very likely that she is one of the younger daughters of Robert Feely and Rosa McGown. Alexander Feely, son of John Feely and Helen Campbell, in his poor relief application in 1903, mentions an aunt and her address is 'Mr Thomas, Bellshill'. This is likely to be his aunt Catherine and her husband, Patrick Thomas, Catherine Feely and John Feely, married to Helen Campbell, being brother and sister.
When Catherine Thomas died in 1917, she was described as 'married to Patrick Thomas colliery labourer'. Her recorded age then was 73 years. Both of her parents were deceased. 5 6 8 9

Patrick Thomas, widower, who had been present, gave notice of Catherine's death before Gavin Blackie, registrar, at Bellshill on May 31 1917, and made his X mark. 5
Catherine married Edward GALLAUGHER, son of William GALLAUGHER and Margaret GALLAUGHER, on 17 April 1864 in RC Chapel, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Edward GALLAUGHER was born in 1837.)
Marriage Notes:
The priest who celebrated the marriage was James Danaher RCC. The witnesses were James Duncan, who made his X mark, and Rosan Kaine.
Edward Gallaugher was a house painter (journeyman) aged 26 years. He was unmarried. His address was recorded as 20 New Wynd, Hamilton. His mother was deceased and his father was living.
Catherine Feeley, who made her X mark, was also unmarried and was aged 19 years. She was a tambourer. Her address was Church Street, Hamilton. Her father was deceased and her mother still living.
The marriage was registered on 21 April 1864 at Hamilton, James Wilson being the signing registrar.

Catherine next married Patrick THOMAS, son of James THOMAS and Margaret GULLACHER, on 31 May 1867 in RC Chapel, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.2 (Patrick THOMAS was born about 1845 in Ireland 7 and died after 30 May 1917.)
Marriage Notes:
James Danaher, RCC, was the priest who married the couple according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The witnesses, both of whom made their X marks, were Patrick Rafferty and Catherine McGovern.
Patrick Thomas was an unmarried man of 19 years, whose address was recorded as Back Row No 2, Hamilton. He was a coal miner. Both of his parents were deceased. Patrick made his X mark.
Catherine Feeley also made her X mark. She was a widow aged 23 years, of the same address as the bridegroom. Her parents too were both dead.
The marriage was registered at Hamlton on June 1867, William Moffat being the registrar. 2
