GEORGE
Samuel George labourer and Rebecca Reid his wife both belonging to the Church had a daughter baptized. Born the 12th of the same month and named Rebecca."

Rebeca Stevens [sic] was recorded in the 1841 census, newly married, living in Crooked Holm in the parish of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, with her husband, Montgomery. She was recorded as being in the age range 15-19 years and had been born in Ayrshire. ³

DATE OF DEATH

Rebecca George was alive at the time of the 1841 census, but, presumably, had died by 1849 when her husband married Mary Ferguson. ⁴

Rebecca married Montgomery STEVEN, son of Montgomery STEVEN and Elizabeth CONNAL, on 1 January 1841 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.¹ (Montgomery STEVEN was born in 1819 in Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland and died 19 August 1897 at 10.00 am in Maxwood Rows, Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was cardiac degeneration and anasarca of uncertain duration.

Two dates and venues for this couple are given in the OPR, the earlier probably being the start of the proclamations of banns and the latter the marriage date after the banns were called on three Sabbaths:
-13 Dec 1840 at Galston and
-1 Jan 1841 at Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.

The Galston parish Marriages register reads:
"13 DEC 1840
STEVEN
Montgomery Steven in this parish and Rebecca George Kilmarnock Low Church parish (all 3 sabbaths)." ¹
