  General Notes:

Old Parish Register
Killean and Kilchenzie Parish Argyll

"1812 Baptisms
June 6
Ann Lawful daughter of James MacMillan and Mary McMurchy Tighantruan"

When Alexander McKendrick died in 1886 he was recorded as a farmer married to Ann McMillan.

Ann McKendrick nee McMillan, according to her death certificate, died in Campbeltown in 1899. She was recorded as 'widow of Alexander McKendrick farmer' and was aged 77 years at death. Her parents were deceased.

In the 1916 death certificate of her daughter Sibby or Sophia, some confusion was evident regarding Ann's name. She was noted as 'Ann McKendrick MS Ann Henderson deceased'. 'Henderson' is the anglicised version of 'McKendrick' so both are essentially the same name. Her maiden surname was in fact 'McMillan'. 5 6 10 11

  Medical Notes:

Ann had no regular medical attendant before she died.

Annie McKendrick, of Ferndean, Campbeltown, granddaughter of the deceased who was present where Ann's death occurred, gave notice of her grandmother's death before the registrar at Campbeltown on 3 March 1899.

Note: Ferndean is less than a mile away from Millknowe Terrace in Campbeltown. It is above the B842 High Askomill Road, a shore road alongside Campbeltown Loch. 6

Ann married Alexander McKENDRICK, son of John McKENDRICK and Sibby KELLY, on 17 November 1835 in Killean and Kilchenzie Parish, Argyll, Scotland.1 2 (Alexander McKENDRICK was baptised on 13 April 1799 in Killean and Kilchenzie Parish, Argyll, Scotland 12 and died 26 March 1886 at 3.30 am in Millknowe Terrace, Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland.). The cause of his death was debility of old age.6
