   Cause of his death was acute pneumonia over 9 days.

  General Notes:

William McGonigal was recorded by the 1871 census for Old Monkland parish living at No 38 Dundyvan. He was 9 years old and had been born in Tollcross, Lanarkshire.

William McGunnigle was recorded by the 1881 census living with his mother and stepfather in Hamilton. He was a coal miner aged 16 years and had been born in Old Monkland parish.

The 1891 census for Hamilton recorded William McGunnigal as head of a household living at 2 Bishop Street. With him lived his wife, his son and daughter, and two boarders. The first of these was a 43 year old single man, Bernard Kelly, Irish born and working as a coal miner. The other was Andrew Docherty, aged 28 years and born in New Monkland parish, who was also single and worked as a coal miner. William McGunnigal was recorded as 28 years of age and worked as a coal miner. His place of birth was noted as Tollcross, Lanarkshire.

When he died in 1900, William McGonagle was recorded as a coal miner married to Catherine Early. He was also recorded as 35 years of age. Both of his parents were deceased.

William McGonagle was a coal miner according to the marriage certificate of his daughter Margaret in 1919. 2 4 7 8 9

John Kerr LRCP(E) certified the cause of death.

Duncan McGonagle, brother of the deceased who had been present where his brother's death occurred, gave notice of William's death before the registrar at Hamilton, James Frame, on 20 June 1900. His address was noted as 74 Eddlewood Rows Hamilton, 10


William married Catherine EARLY, daughter of Thomas EARLY and Mary BAIN, in 1888 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Catherine EARLY was born on 30 June 1866 in Cowdenbeath, Fife, Scotland 4 and died after 18 July 1919.)
