"William Gordon of the Farskane family was a merchant at Christiansand, circa 1758. William Gordon was a merchant in Gothenburg in 1812 (Scots Mag.)."

William married Margaret DUFF, daughter of James DUFF of Crombie and Jean MELDRUM heiress of Crombie, in 1725 in Rathven parish, Banffshire, Scotland.1 (Margaret DUFF was born in 1700 7 and died in 1789 7.)

"30 MAY 1725 WM. GORDON of Farskan [Farskane] was thrice proclaimed this day being a Lord's day with Mrs MARGARET DUFF Crombies daur in Abirchirder. [Vol.2 p.14]."

" Margaret, born 1700; married to William Gordon of Farskane, whose mother was a Duff of Braco, by whom she had issue two sons and two daughters (see chapter xxxii.). Her husband was the fourth and last William Gordon of Farskane. She died in 1789, in her ninetieth year."
