The 1841 census for Haddington, East Lothian, recorded Alexander with his wife and baby daughter, Susan, living in Hardgate Street. Both adults were in the 25-29 years age bracket, and Susan was recorded as being 10 months old. Alexander was a journeyman tailor.

The 1851 census recorded Alexander Haimes, his wife and four children, living at Nungate, Haddington. He was a journeyman tailor. His age was noted as 38 years and he had been born in Haddington.

Alex Haimes, Richard Haimes' brother gave notice of his death before the registrar, Thomas Henderson, at Haddington on 25 October 1856.

When Alexander Haimes died in Haddington in 1867 his death certificate recorded him as a tailor, married to Elizabeth Aitchison, and aged 53 years. Both of his parents were deceased. 1 2 3

George Haimes, son of the deceased man of Esk Place Dalkeith, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, Thomas Kemp, at Haddington on 23 April 1867. 1


Alexander married Elisabeth AITCHISON on 12 July 1856 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.1 (Elisabeth AITCHISON was born about 1817 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland and died after 21 April 1867.)
