Another name for Robert was CUMMING, Robert of Alter.5 User ID: X951. General Notes: " In 1627 Robert Cumming of Altyre gave his bond to the council of Scotland for the peace of the Highlands. His second son John, was direct ancestor of the Cummings of Logie." Robert married Isobel INNES, daughter of Sir Robert INNES 5th of Innermarkie, Baronet of Balvenie and Barbara BURNET, after 18 February 1625.1 2 (Isobel INNES was born about 1606.) Marriage Notes: ""Feb. 18, 1625. Robert next married Jean GORDON of Glengarach. (Jean GORDON of Glengarach was born about 1605.) Marriage Notes: "Her (Margaret Fraser's) fortune had been 37,000 merks, but the expenditure exceeding the income during the lifetime of her husband and his father, many lands were wadset to cadets of the family, but none heritably disponed until circa 1660, when 'Jean Cuming,' granddaughter of Margaret Fraser (daughter of Robert Cuming of Alter by his second wife Jean Gordon, Lady of Glengarach) marrying James Cumming in the miln-town of Relugas, had charters of Tulliduvie either as her dowry or by purchase." |
