"In 1657, Robert Comyn, the Laird of Altyre, married Lucy, eldest daughter of Sir Ludovick Gordon of Gordonston, through whom, on the death of Sir William Gordon in 1795, the estate of Gordonston devolved on Alexander Penrose Cumming of Altyre, who thereupon assumed the name and arms of Gordonston, and was created a Baronet of Great Britain in 1804, and died in 1806."
