"In a charter dated 29th January 1580, to David Edingtoun of that Ilk, there is mention of George Craw in East Renton, son and heir of the late George Craw in East Renton, and Robert Lauder in Tyningham, spouse of Magdalen Home relict of the said late George Craw. A witness was George Lauder, son of the said Robert.[7Calendar of the Laing Charters, AD854 - 1837, edited by the Rev. John Anderson, Edinburgh, 1899, number 994, p.247.]
