   Cause of her death was congestive cardiac failure and coronary thrombosis.4

   Other names for Jane were McALPINE, Jane Deans,4 NISBET, Jane and NISBET, Jeannie Deans.2

  General Notes:

Alexr. Nisbet, Jane's father who had been present where the birth occurred, gave notice of her birth at Edinburgh on 30 May 1879 before the registrar, D. R. Brown.

Jane was only one year old when recorded by the 1881 census for Edinburgh. She lived at 5 Brown Street and had been born in St Cuthbert's parish.

In 1891 Jane Nisbet was recorded by the census for Edinburgh living at 5 Brown Street, her family home, which her sister, Eleanor, and her husband Henry McKeen, now ran, as pseudo parents, after the death of Alexander and Isabella Nisbet. Jane was 11 years old and was a scholar. She had been born in Edinburgh.

The census for 1901 recorded Jeannie D. Nisbet working as a general servant in the home of Alexander W. Mack and his wife Anne, both recorded as 60 years old, at 58 Pilrig Street, Edinburgh. She was 21 years of age and born in Edinburgh.

Jane Deans McAlpine, widow, died in 1971 at the grand old age of 92 years. She had been married twice, first to William Paton, ironmoulder; and secondly to John Gemmell McAlpine, a school janitor. Needless to say, her parents were then deceased. 3 4 5

M. Millar MB ChB certified the causes of death.

J. McDougal, Jane's nephew, gave notice of her death before the registrar, James Sharp, at Falkirk on 10 June 1971. 4


Jane married William PATON, son of James PATON and Elizabeth BURDEN, on 17 November 1911 in George Street, Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland.1 2 (William PATON was born about 1882 2 and died before 10 June 1971.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The minister who married the couple was A. Ross Taylor. The witnesses were Charles H. Mitchell and Maggie M. Moffat.

William Paton was a journeyman plumber of 45 Mary Street, Falkirk. He was a bachelor and 27 years old.

Jeannie Deans Nisbet was a single woman who worked as a domestic servant. She was 29 years old and lived at Wellside Terrace, Falkirk. Both of her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered on 18 November 1911 at Falkirk, the registrar signing E. K. Hunter. 2

Jane next married John Gemmell McALPINE. (John Gemmell McALPINE was born about 1879 and died before 10 June 1971.)
