On 23 June, 1480, the Lords of Council decreed that Robert Stewart of Laithers, John Garden, John Garden his son and several others pay to John Dempster of Auchterless the mails the lands of Muiresk, Kynnermet, Ardmiddlel and Fortrie for the past two years.

John had sasine of his lands of Innermeath in Perthshire in 1500.

On the death of his father about 1495, he inherited a portion of the lands of Innermeath in Perthshire and gained a sixth part of the lands of Dorlaithers near Turriff in Aberdeenshire and thus was designed John Garden (Gardin) of Laithers (Latheris). A Brief of Inquest held on 28 April 1500 at the tolbooth of Aberdeen under the direction of Alexander Bannerman of Walterton and John Culane pretended Sheriff of Aberdeen found John Garden as son and heir of John Garden his father in the sixth part of the land and mills of the lordship of Laithers."

John married Daughter FORBES, daughter of Sir Alexander FORBES 2nd of Pitsligo and Maria HAY.1 (Daughter FORBES was born about 1460.)

"Born about 1465 daughter to Sir Alexander Forbes of Pitsligo and his wife who is said to be Maria Hay daughter to the Earl of Errol[The Scots Peerage Vol.iv p.71] she was sister to the wife of John Mowat of Loscraigie and Balquholly,[Acts of the Lords of Council 1501-1503 p.166]


About 1485 she married John Garden portioner of Dorlaithers

John Garden and the Forbes daughter of Forbes of Pitsligo had a son and heir:

Alexander presumably named after her father.
She appears to have been alive in 1503 when her husband and her Forbes relatives were mentioned in a case brought before the Lords of Council by Dempster of Auchterless.[Acts of the Lords of Council 1501-1503 p.166]
