"The King on 10 Jan 1464/65 granted John and his spouse Janet a sixth part of the lands of Innermeath in Perthshire when his father John resigned his one twelfth part and his mother Marjory resigned her one twelfth part.

In 1468 the sum of £18 was paid to the Exchequer for the relief of lands of Innermeith. It is assumed that this was paid by John on taking sasine after the death of his father.

Walter, Lord Innermeath made an Instrument of contract with John Garden and his spouse Janet Innes granting them two parts of the lands of Dorlaithers and Glasslaw and mill of Glasslaw.

On 23 June, 1480, the Lords of Council decreed that Robert Stewart of Laithers John Garden John Garden his son and several others pay to John Dempster of Auchterless the mails the lands of Muiresk, Kynnermet, Ardmiddlel and Fortrie for the past two years.
John and Janet lived in Dorlaithers while their son lived in Glasslaw (Glaschelo)....

On 2 April 1498, Patrick Dempster raised an action against John the son of and Janet Innes the widow of the deceased John Garden portioner of Dorlaithers for the unlawful occupation of the two parts of the lands of Dorlaithers and Glasslaw and its mill. At the hearing Janet said she had a warrant and she was instructed to show this at the next sitting on 1 June. At the next hearing on 18 June 1498, the Lords of Council accepted Janet's rights and instructed Thomas, Lord Innermeath to ensure that Patrick Dempster would not disturb her occupation of these lands and mill."

John married Janet INNES, daughter of Sir Robert INNES 11th of that Ilk and Daughter DOUGLAS. (Janet INNES was born about 1442.)
