  General Notes:

In 1871 Eliz Ballantyne was the head of a household consisting of herself, a widow, and three sons, Thos, John and Robert, living at 46 Gartness Row in the parish of Shotts. She was a farm worker born in Hamilton.

In 1880 Elizabeth Ballantine, who had been present where the birth occurred and was the occupier of the dwelling, was the informant of the birth of her granddaughter Elizabeth. She notified the registrar at Salsburgh on 13 March 1880 and made her X mark.

When Elizabeth died in 1895 her death certificate recorded her as 59 years old and the widow of Robert Ballantyne coal miner. Her father was deceased. ^{6 15 18}

Elizabeth married Robert BALLANTYNE, son of Thomas BALLANTYNE (DNA Linked) and Helen BALLANTYNE (DNA Linked), on 16 March 1855 in Chapelhall, Holytown district, Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.^{1 2 3} (Robert BALLANTYNE was born about 1829 in Tynron parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland ^{16 19 20 21} and died on 24 June 1870 in Gartness, Shotts parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ^{13 14 17 20}.). The cause of his death was miners phtisis.⁶
