"Elizabeth Winton was the second wife of George Gordon of Milton of Noth, and her only child, Jonet Gordon, succeeded to a fourth part of Coclarachie. Jonet Gordon married Patrick Forbes of Kinmuck, in the parish of Keithhall, and her son, Alexander Forbes, in 1560 sold his fourth part to his mother's half-brother, George Gordon of Blairdinnie."

"On June 23, 1554, Alexander Forbes was served heir to Jonet Gordon, portioner of Coclarachie, in a fourth part of Coclarachie, etc. By a charter, dated at Aberdeen, November 15, 1550, and confirmed under the Great Seal, December 1, 1554, Alexander Forbes son and heir of the late Patrick Forbes of Kynmukkis (with consent of Mr. Robert Lumisden, his curator) sold his fourth part of Coclarachie to his paternal uncle, Mr. Duncan Forbes of Monymusk, with reservation of his liferent of the same. This sale must either have been a formality during his minority, or have been afterwards cancelled, for on February 10, 1560, Alexander Forbes sold the lands to George Gordon of Blairdinnie."

"Alex. Forbes, eldest son to the sd. Patrick Forbes, was bailie in Abd. and married Marjorie Cullen, daughter to (see Note below) Provost Alex. Cullen, jr. who did bear to him Thomas Forbes, baillie in Abd. and se'all other sons and diverss daughters, whose succession wee pass by.

Note:

Marjorie/Marione Cullen was the wife of Alexander Forbes, and mother of at least seven of his children. Her last child was baptised in 1587. The elder Alexander Cullen, Provost of Aberdeen, had a number of children with his wife Elpset Lumsden, during more or less the same time as Marione Cullen. In other words they were contemporaries rather than of two different generations. If Marjorie/Marione was related to him she was more likely his sister than his daughter.
