William married Margaret LUMSDEN, daughter of Thomas LUMSDEN 4th and last of Conland and Marjory GORDON.^{1 2} (Margaret LUMSDEN was born about 1499.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Margaret (Lumsden) married -

(1) William Johnstone of that ilk (Caskieben, now called Keith Hall), who was killed at Flodden;

and (2) Duncan (see Note below) Forbes of Corsindae.

Nisbet, in the Appendix to his Heraldry, says that Margaret Lumsden married Lundin of that ilk. It may, perhaps, be true; but in what order this much-married lady took her husbands I know not."

Note:

Duncan Forbes of Corsindae was the father of William Forbes of Corsindae. Margaret Lumsden married the son, not the father. The mistake may have arisen from the fact that Margaret's stepfather was also named Duncan Forbes. ^{1 2}
