LUMSDEN, Margaret 1
Other names for Margaret were LUMMYSDEN, Margaret of Condelain in the shire of Fife 4 and LUMSDEN, Margt Daughter to the Laird of Conlan.5 User ID: Z590. General Notes: "I gather from the Acta Dominorum, under dates 26th October, 1484, and 8th February following, that Thomas (Lumsden) had two sons, John and James; but if so, they must have died before their father, for Margaret undoubtedly succeeded him." Margaret married William JOHNSTON of that Ilk, son of Alexander DE JOHNSTON of Caskieben and Agnes GLOSTER.1 (William JOHNSTON of that Ilk was born about 1465 and died on 9 September 1513 in Battle of Flodden Field, Northumberland, England 6.) Marriage Notes: "Margaret (Lumsden) married - (1) William Johnstone of that ilk (Caskieben, now called Keith Hall), who was killed at Flodden" Margaret next married William FORBES 2nd of Corsindae, son of Duncan FORBES of Corsindae and Christian MERCER.1 2 (William FORBES 2nd of Corsindae was born about 1487 7.) Marriage Notes: "Margaret (Lumsden) married - Margaret next married Robert LUNDIE 5th of Balgonie and 1st of Conland, son of Sir Andrew LUNDIE 2nd of Balgonie, Sheriff of Fife and Janet DISHINGTON.1 3 (Robert LUNDIE 5th of Balgonie and 1st of Conland was born about 1502 and died about 1581 3.) Marriage Notes: "Margaret married - (1) William Johnstone of that ilk (Caskieben, now called Keith Hall), who was killed at Flodden; and (2) Duncan Forbes of Corsindae. Nisbet, in the Appendix to his Heraldry, says that Margaret Lumsden married Lundin of that ilk. It may, perhaps, be true; but in what order this much-married lady took her husbands I know not." |
