Elspet next married Alexander STRACHAN fiar of Glenkindie, son of William STRACHAN 6th of Glenkindie and Janet FORBES, between January 1595 and June 1597.2 (Alexander STRACHAN fiar of Glenkindie was born about 1555 and died before 26 May 1609.)

  Marriage Notes:

The Strachans of Glenkindie states:

"In January 1580, William Strachan of Glenkindie resigned his lands of Glenkindie and others in favour of Alexander Strachan, his son, in implement of a contract of marriage betwixt William and his eldest son Alexander, on one part, d. January 1580, and Duncan Fobes of Moneymusk and Elspet Forbes, his daughter, on the other part, d. 16th September 1607. This lady was widow of Forbes of Towie."

Allardyce, offers an explanation regarding the two dates given in the earlier paragraph:

"..... The Strachan part of the Contract was entered into in 1580 - but the young lady married Forbes of Towie. After his death (ie Forbes of Towie), circa 1597, Alexander Strachan married Elspet or Elizabeth Forbes, the widow, and he died before succeeding to Glenkindie."

Later he says:

"Alexander Strachan, son of William Strachan, predeceased his father, and as stated above married Elspett or Elizabeth Forbes, widow of Forbes of Towie. This is proved from the following entry, copied from records in custody of County Clerk, Aberdeen. '29th June 1597. Elspett Forbes, relict of umq (deceased) Alexander Forbes, Fiar of Towie, lyvrenter of lands, under written, and Alexander Straqhan, aperand of Glenkindie, now her spous for his interest, raised an action against a number of tenants of the lands of Towie, and obtained decree against them.' "

"Elspet (or Elizabeth) Forbes had proved her right to the widow's tierce by a special service before the Sheriff and a Jury on the 13th January, 1595.... This Alexander therefore married Elspett or Elizabeth Forbes between January, 1595, and June, 1597."
