Alexander , son of Alexander, grandson of William, is referred to in a Bond of Caution at Perth, dated 31 July 1604, where a variety of men by the name of Forbes were enjoined "not to harm William Strachan of Glenkindie, Alexander Strachan, his son, and Alexander Strachan, OY (grandson) to said William."

"Alexander Strachan, 'fiar of Glenkindie', son of William No. VI.,who had married Elizabeth Forbes, widow of Forbes of Towie, must have died early in 1609, for on 26th May, 1609, William Strachan of Glenkindie, gave Charter of Glenkindie to his grandson, Alexander Strachan..."

In 1627 the estate of Annachie was acquired by the Laird of Glenkindie. It adjoins the Estate of Achnagatt on the east side of the Ebrie. It remained in the family until 1709 when it was purchased by Garden of Troup.

"1639 A.D. Covenanter Times. Donald Farquharson of Monaltrie, the marquis's baillie, when Huntly was in Aberdeen, on his way to Edinburgh, went there to see him and get his orders for the time he might be absent. It was arranged that Monaltrie should take a quantity of muskets, pikes, and other armour belonging to the marquis away with him to the Highlands. This he was doing when Alexander Strachan, Laird of Glenkindie, a great Covenanter, came out against him, 'and masterfully took them away from him, whereat the said Donald took great offence,' and did not forget to pay him back when he got the opportunity.

1648. Feby. 9. Desertion of Farm. Alexr. Straquhane, elder of Glenkindy v. Francis Hay in Keltie. The Defender had taken a five years' lease of Newbigging, from Whitsunday, 1644, and had entered on possession, but thereafter deserted the farm, although bound to give personal residence, leaving 'the samen waist.' He was now ordained to re-enter, live upon the farm and pay the rents... "
