STRACHAN, Alexander of Kemnay, fiar of Glenkindie 2Another name for Alexander was STRACHAN, Alexander younger of Glenkindie.1 User ID: X218. General Notes: "In 1650, Alexander Strachan of Glenkindie acquired the Barony of Kemnay from Thomas Crombie, and put his son Alexander Strachan, younger, in possession of it.... Noted events in his life were: 1. Put in possession of Kemnay: by his father, 1650, of Kemnay. 2. Died, 1674-1675. Alexander married Margaret GRAHAM, daughter of George GRAHAM 5th of Claverhouse, Burgess and Guild-brother of Dundee and Mariot FOTHERINGHAM, 4 July 1644(contract).1 (Margaret GRAHAM was born about 1625.) Marriage Notes: "On 5th August, 1644, Alexander Strachan, elder of Glenkindie, granted a Charter to Alexander Strachan, his son, of all and haill the lands of Glenkindie - terras ducales - Mill of Glenkindie, etc., etc., as mentioned in former Charter, in implement of a contract of marriage entered into by Alexander Strachan, elder, with consent of his spouse, Margaret Fraser, and Alexander Strachan, his eldest son. This was preliminary to the marriage of Alexander Strachan, younger, with Margaret Grahame, eldest daughter of Mr. George Grahame of Claverhouse. Sasine followed on above Charter in favour of Alexander Strachan, younger, 14th October, 1646. (Glenkindie papers)" |
