"William Strachauchin at that trial (2nd March 1573) produced his sasine of the lands of Auchnagat etc., dated the 20th February, 1566..."

"It would appear that William Strachan died soon after he had executed the resignation of his lands to his grandson, Alexander (ie on 26th May 1609) - for Alexander obtained sasine of resignation 'of umquhile Wm. Strachan', his grandfather, by deed dated 30th June, 1609."

8. Bond of Caution, 17 July 1591. 2 John Lumsden of Cushny guaranteed William would not harm James Robertson.

9. Bond of Caution, 1598. 2 Bond of caution signed by William Forbes preventing William harming certain Gordon.

..9. Theft Failure to Prosecute. Wm. Wat in Glenkyndie, for whose appearance this day Wm. Straquhan of Glenkyndie had become surety, had been charged with stealing a doublet from a servant of Mr. John Cheyne of Petfichie. In addition to the
absence of a prosecutor, it was avowed by one Patrick Gordon at the Kirk of Cluny, who was in Court, that he had taken the doublet and that it was his own at the time he took it. Case continued until new citation. "

12. Bond of Caution, 31 July 1604. 2 Taken that a group of Forbes family would not harm William, Laird of Glenkindie, his son, Alexander, and grandson Alexander.

13. Bond of Caution, 26 June 1605. 2 The bond was to prevent him slaying salmon in local reivers.

14. Bond of Caution: by Irvine of Drum & Gordon of Abergeldie, 7-8 January 1608. 2 To prevent William, Alexander his son, and his sons Alexander and Patrick, Arthur Lord Forbes and a number of Forbes from being harmed.


William married Janet FORBES, daughter of Alexander FORBES 4th of Brux and Marjory FORBES 'Ladie of Brux'.1 (Janet FORBES was born about 1534.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (William Strachan of Glenkindie who succeeded his grandfather in 1566) married Janet Forbes, daughter of Forbes of Brux, and had at least three sons and one daughter, who is mentioned above (ie in the Birth Brieve of George Gardyn, d. October 25th 1639) as the wife of Gardyn of Bannochie.(ie of Banchory)"

"Thus having spoken of the right line of John Forbes, Laird of Brux, followes to speake of his collaterall line: John begat Alex- and Alex, begat John of Brux; Alex. in Sinahard, Wm, in Savock; and Duncan in Byth : with three daughters : one married to the Laird of Glenkindie, ane other to Mr. Walter Wilsone, a third on John Burnet, burges in Aberdeen..."
